NSBE at Louisiana Tech
During my time at Louisiana Tech, our National Society of Black Engineers chapter was named the Louisiana Zone Most Outstanding Chapter of the Year at the 2022 NSBE Region V Fall Conference. The award recognized the chapter's academic programs and community service, including "A Walk for Education" on Martin Luther King Day, neighborhood cleanups, and twice-weekly "Study Jamz" tutoring sessions. The recognition was covered by the Lincoln Parish Journal, Lincoln Parish's local news publication.
I served as the chapter's telecommunications chair during that stretch, which put me in charge of the chapter website. That role is where I first learned about hosting on Amazon S3 and got my introduction to React. I also took part in the chapter's outreach and conference travel, including the Region V Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas, which we drove to from Ruston. It was a good time fellowshipping with fellow NSBE members.
